The town centre is compact and walkable. Hotels here keep you close to the market, bus stations, and the restaurants along the main commercial streets. The cooler highland climate (evenings can drop to 12-14°C) means air conditioning is rarely needed, but hot water is expected as standard.

Kerio View Hotel (Iten, 30km east) — For visitors who want to wake up in Kenya’s running capital rather than drive out from Eldoret, Kerio View offers small, simple rooms perched above the Kerio Valley with extraordinary Rift Valley views. The setting is the product: early morning mist over the valley, runners on the road outside, and cool highland air. From approximately KES 5,000-8,000 per night as of 2026. Iten itself has several smaller guesthouses aimed primarily at training runners, but Kerio View is the most visitor-friendly option for those passing through.

Getting Around

Eldoret’s town centre is compact enough to walk between most hotels and amenities. Boda bodas (motorcycle taxis) are the standard short-haul option — approximately KES 50-100 for town trips, KES 200-400 to the Airport. Taxis for the Iten run (30km) cost approximately KES 1,500-2,500 return, or take a matatu from the main stage (approximately KES 80 one way).
